Champions of Freedom – Alexei and Yulia Navalny

Alexei Navalny (or Nawalny) is a hero to me. When I look back at the founders of our American Revolution, Alexei reminds me of their nature and character. Our patriots fought for personal freedom and liberty from the usual and age-old patriarchy rule: warlord and minions, monarchy and privileged upper class, etc. The man on the street, family and society were their minions, with required fealty to that upper class, regardless of individual rights and personal preferences. When the underclass has enough of the nonsense, they rebel.

Often, over the course of what we call civilization, freedom has been won and cherished, only to be crushed by those who believe that only their rights matter. Our country is not the first in history to win its freedom, only to lose it through the machinations of power and control; might makes right, strong man wins. Lethargy on the part of free men, not staying educated, not exercising their individual rights to protect the whole, allowing the dissolution of the free state, has happened through countless centuries. One example, the Roman Empire which was awesome at its conception and inception, dropped back into our history books in less than 400 years.

Our country is 248 years old (using the Declaration of Independence as birth), and we are currently living through the potential dissolution of our patriots’ dreams unless our citizens show up at the polls and make the right decision. If we were to fail, it would be up to future generations to again stand up for freedom and liberty. History seems to repeat itself, so the clock would start the slow countdown (hundreds of years) again. Unless those who say they believe in those rights make good decisions and take action to prevent the dissolution of what has been so dearly won, history may repeat itself. This is how I view Alexei Navalny. Fighting for not only personal freedom and rights, but freedom and rights for all, he became a cosmic martyr for his cause.

But this article is not specifically about Alexei. It is about the continuation of this political drama through his wife and widow, Yulia. Upon her husband’s death on February 16, 2024 in a Siberian prison (time unknown), Yulia had declared she would continue his fight for freedom. Plus, Yulia has publicly accused Russia’s Premier Vladimir Putin of personally murdering her husband through his Siberian cell conditions. She also declared Putin a war criminal.

This did not make Putin, Russia’s Premier, dictator and wannabe restorer-In-chief of Russia’s once dominant empire, happy! According to the Washington Post, her arrest warrant was issued July 9, 2024. Luckily (or perhaps intended), Yulia was out of the country.  Her location seems to be speculative, but she is supposedly safe from extradition back to Russia. Germany seems to be the gossips’ choice. While this location may keep her free from extradition, it might not keep her safe. Just look at the multiple attempts on her husband’s life over the years, usually poisoning of some form. We can’t want another martyr!

I wondered what Yulia’s natal chart looked like, so Deb (my friend and editor) and I went searching. All that was available was date and place of birth – no time, and no luck finding it. Shoot! The noonmark chart is the best we can do, but it does make it speculative. We cannot trust the noonmark Ascendant, Midheaven or Moon positions. The chart is generic to anyone born on that day, based on that birth location. The remaining planetary body positions should be reasonably accurate. Also, without the Midheaven and Ascendant, we do not have a house system, which is how I usually dig into a chart. Too much speculation for this researcher. Now what? I had done the whole workup on her husband, so she should be reflected somewhat in his charting. Where to begin? I chose to not pursue a personal relationship comparison because it does not serve my purpose here.

I wondered if Yulia had the excessive fixed star hits that were in her husband’s chart. I have run into charts with occasional fixed star connections, but nothing like Alexei’s chart! Fixed stars were all over his chart, beyond amazing. And they were quite specific about the life he led, with the influence and demands on his life by the cosmos. To me he was like a tool of the universe, used to illustrate the demands of that moment. He turned out to be a martyr for freedom!

There are quite a few fixed stars, so I limited myself to the royal fixed stars, and the most well-known malefic fixed star positions:

  • Royals: Antares, Regulus, Aldebaran, Fomalhaut
  • Malefics: Algol, Alcyone, Aldebaran, Betelgeuse, Serpentis and Vindemiatrix.

I invite you to read the original article and the later follow up article on his death. They contain all the technical data, which I choose not to repeat here. My overall criteria:

  • Tight aspects are preferred as tighter is stronger
  • Hard aspects only are used: conjunction, square, opposition (action aspects)
  • Separating aspects indicate the past, already triggered
  • Applying aspects are future oriented

Yulia’s chart information is July 24, 1976, Moscow, Russia, noonmark used. Her FS aspects:

Neptune 11:26 Sag Rx, Mars 10:37 Vir          RFS Antares 9:30 Sag, Aldebaran 9:26 Gem

Jupiter 26:16 Tau         Algol 25:57 Tau, Alcyone 29:42 Tau, Regulus 29:29 Leo

Moon (speculative) 28:35 Gem          Betelgeuse 28:23 Gem

Pluto 9:16 Lib                 Vindemiatrix 9:32 Lib

This Fixed Star activity is also amazing, and we have only used the speculative noonmark natal! Accurate Ascendant, Midheaven and exact Moon are unknown; if changed, we could lose the above Moon / Betelgeuse connection included in the fixed star count. More could be possible if we knew the correct angles. While not Alexei’s almost full chart involvement with fixed stars, this is the second most hits in a chart that I have encountered in fifty years of study!

Next question: How did the transits the day of Alexei’s death affect Yulia’s chart? Since we don’t have her accurate chart time, I can’t erect a diurnal for her chart. But we could use the transits right out of the ephemeris (usual). I do have the diurnal for Alexei’s chart. Hmmm. This will be timed transits for Alexei specifically, but easily comparable to Yulia’s more speculative chart. I have never tried this before, comparing timed transiting activation to a spouse’s chart. Can it work??? What can I see?

The couple were born only 44 days apart, so the outer natal planets will be tightly conjunct. The very slow-moving fixed stars have not moved, so transiting activation for one chart could easily be activation to the other. Mental note: Remember, all people born on either day will have similar positions and activations, groups of people or generational. Connections to angles and Moon would help narrow the number of such possible connections. Alexei’s are fully known, Yulia’s are not.

  • A diu MC 8:46 Pis and A diu Sat 8:16 Pis,
to Y nat Mars 10:37 Vir and Y nat Nep 11:26 Sag Rx
    FS: Antares, Aldebaran
  • A diu Sun 27:14 Aqu
to Y nat Jup 26:16 Tau
    FS Regulus, Algol, Alcyone
  • A diu Moon 24:55 Tau
to Y nat Jup 26:16 Tau
    FS Algol
  • A diu Nep 26:16 Pis
To Y noonmark Moon (questionable) 29:35 Gem
    Betelgeuse

Further notes:

  • Alexei has a Mercury / Venus mutual reception as his natal chart ruler with Mercury as chart ruler.
  • Yulia has a Mercury / Venus tight conjunction (16’ of orb) with Venus as noonmark (speculative) chart ruler. This tight conjunction would stay in effect all day, regardless if either were actual chart ruler.
  • Both natal charts have Pluto 17’ apart conjunct fs Vindemiatrix 9:32 Lib due to the births being so close together (44 days). Vindemiatrix is designated the Star of Widowhood. Not specifically activated by transits; unknown if Y accurate angles may be activated.
  • A progressed to DOD Pluto is 9:14 Lib, 2 minutes to exact Y natal position 9:16 Lib. Again Star of widowhood, which is specific to each chart.

The only thing I had not done was Yulia’s progressions to her husband’s date of death. So, I Progressed Yulia’s chart to see if there were more connections to fixed stars? Remember, Ascendant, Midheaven and Moon will be questionable. Her progressed positions blew my mind!
