As I have mentioned in earlier writing, I began my studies in spiritual development in 1970, and eventually encountering astrology in 1973, blending studies as my personal development. As limited resource was common at that time, you learned as you went from what was available at that moment. Sometimes you encountered good stuff, other times not so much. As my skills developed, I applied them: healing, counseling, reading. Eventually, to my great surprise, I was asked to teach as there was a lack of available teachers in our area. Surprised, I said, “No, I am a student.” I did not see myself qualified to be a teacher. Those seekers said they would search for a teacher. That made me pause and reconsider. At least I understood my limitations and I would stay within the bounds of what I “knew” as I worked to develop my own skills and knowledge base. I am a researcher-type so there were myriad subjects. Eventually I became a “teacher” of multiple spiritual and astrological subjects. My teaching territory enlarged gradually, from my local area to my state (Florida). I developed a church / school (Mission: Aquarius, Inc.) in South Florida, but also taught workshops and presentations around the country. That’s how it worked in the 70’, 80’s and 90’s. No internet, no Zoom classes, only dedicated students learning as fast and as thoroughly as possible. There were many teachers like me and we shared what we could as we developed whenever we found opportunity. This leads me to today’s presentation.
This is NOT my workbook and NOT my research. I want you to know that up front. Because I taught around the state and it was common to stay with local members rather than in a hotel, I had access to material generated and developed by some very bright people. St Petersburg, FL was a multiple visit destination. Those Astrologers were dedicated and thorough with their research. You can’t imagine my surprise when one very elderly astrologer gifted me with her research, neatly boxed. I took it home to go through it, and let AFA know it was in my possession. They never claimed it and it eventually ended up in my research boxes on a garage shelf.
I had decided to tackle the subject of astrological sign divisions: Decanates, Dwads, Terms, Faces, etc. for my website. Thirty or more years later, I suddenly realized I had a research presentation on Decanates. I was stunned. It was not mine or my work. I had not done the research myself, so I would have to leave it untouched by my opinion, but I didn’t want to waste all that research. What to do? The original presentation is dated from 1962 and those researchers have long ago left the planet. They were members of the St. Petersburgh Astrological Association. To me this research was worth preserving, presenting and being kept pristine! HOW? Deb (my editor) and I decided to scan the 37 pages and create a pdf file for my website. Only a couple of pages had smudges, but we found a way to remedy that through brief explanation in this introduction.
It is important to realize how old this research is. The lead-in is brief at the top of page 1:
“This folio has been compiled by Cordelia E. Coull, from notes taken at the series of six special classes given by Mrs. Patricia Trubey (of St Petersburg, Fla) at the home of Mrs. Charlotte Timmons (St. Petersburg, FL) on alternate Thursday evenings, beginning June 7, 1962. The source of each chart is given in the center of the wheel.”
Credit: The teacher (originator) was Mrs. Patricia Trubey.
Compiler was Cordelia E. Coull, Astrologer who gave me her files before her death.
This research was done prior to the Rodden research files which is the current (2025) gold standard for charts. The source references in the center of each original wheel are uncertain. I do not know how trustworthy the original birth data was. It was what they had at that time. If you decide to pursue research and use this material, double check current Rodden birth data, compare and decide.
Smudged original data: poor type on pages 3, 15, 16 – used magnifying glass, strong spotlight. We did set those three charts to see if today’s astrology programs provided us the missing info. There were discrepancies, mostly marginal. We chose NOT to include the computer cast charts because we wanted to keep this early research as pristine and uncontaminated as possible.
Albert Schwitzer chart: Top right page 3, end line 1: Exaltation
End line 2: control. Emotions uncontrolled can? poison? the whole system?
End line 5: trine Jupiter but square Pluto. End line 6: ? behavioral?
End line 7: stimulates drinking End line 8: planet.

I do want to remind you that in the early 1960s, all charting was done by hand, using available data. Sometimes those printed resources did not agree with one another. Astrologers did what we could with what was available. Also, there is always the possibility of “operator error”. Hand charting was time consuming, at times difficult, and mistakes were always possible. I am NOT denigrating the effort that went into this project, but I do want to point out possibility for error. Even with our modern computer programs, entry error is possible. (“Garbage in / garbage out” is the metaphor.)
The interpretations in this folio are amazing, with references to astronomical / spiritual definitions I have never encountered. That alone is definitely worth preserving for study. My personal applause to those dedicated Astrologers and their research effort.
